Beginning my journey
I am just now beginning my journey to being sober. I have "quit" a few times but always found some excuse to start again after a few days or so. For me the hardest thing is to realize my triggers and then to do something more beneficial than just having "one or two drinks". Any advice would be much appreciated.
All the very best to you Ctron. I'm only ten days in and though I have had some longish periods sober I'm not sure what advice I have. Perhaps it is to arm yourself against the time when you are severely tempted to drink. That is when I have succumbed in the past. In my case I made the decision not to phone an AA friend or two for support. Might have made the difference. Good luck and welcome!
Hi ctron
I think lasting success depends on two things - find support (and using it) and making the necessary changes to our lifestyle to support our decision to get sober.
You'll find a lot of support here. Post as often as you need to. Post to some others too - it all helps
welcome aboard

Welcome, ctron. Like Mentium I'm ten days in and don't have a huge amount of advice other than to say I'm pulling for you. Personally my goal is to always remember that "one or two" never really cuts it. "One is too many and 6 isn't enough," or however that saying goes. It's certainly true for me anyway.
