new here and wondering about addiction to prescription drugs
Does anyone here know much about presription drug addiction?? I'm not even really sure if I have a "problem" or not. I stopped taking Xanax because I was abusing it. Now, I am craving it and craving alcohol. This really has me on edge.
Is there anyone out there who might be able to give me some feedback on this??

Hi friendly!
Welcome to SoberRecovery.
Yep, lots of folks here have experience with Xanax.
And they will be along to say hi. So will the rest of us!
Many threads in the Substance Abuse Forum deal with Xanax and meds in general.
Cruise around and get comfortable.
We're glad you're here

Thanks for the welcome Dangerous Dan? Can you tell me if there is a link or something that has info for someone (me) who isn't sure if she is an addict?? I guess i'm sorta confused and wondering about signs or symptoms of addiction.

^Here is link for you, friendlygirl! One of the hallmarks of addiction is craving. Sounds like you are familiar with that one. Some other "signs" are loss of control over how much is used, tolerance (requiring more drug be taken or it be taken more often), and withdrawal or physical dependence. I hope this helps. Feel free to send me a Personal Message if you like or you can ask further questions right here, too!

Fraidy is right about trying the search. The Substanced Abuse forum has plenty of threads dealing about xanax addiction, so if you do some reading there you might find information you are looking for. I'm an alcoholic, but I believe that an addict is an addict and if you are craving xanax and alcohol, you are doing the right thing by questioning yourself. Are you abusing alcohol now? And, as has been said, read around the forums - there's lots of information. Keep posting.

Hi friendly and welcome!
Well it's a blessing you realize something is just not right. That you have found you need help with this and have sought it out is a good thing. Visit our NA and substance abuse forums. Your not alone in this and help is available. There are several options for you, and my suggestion would be to start in the NA forum and see if it's for you. *hugs*

^Here is another link for you, friendly! If you think you do have a problem, the best thing I can suggest is to go to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. It works for me!
