I am a newby
I am not an alcoholic but I am married to one. I came here in hopes of some answers to what, why and how. I am a literal basket case. I really didn't mean for my life to turn out like this. I just want to know that I am not alone.
Welcome to SR!

Glad to meet you Lifeless. I'm sorry for the pain & frustration you're going through.
I've been on both sides of this thing and was married to an alcoholic years ago. He wouldn't admit to having a problem. I didn't reach out for help back then, and didn't realize what I was dealing with. I hope you'll stay with us and keep posting.

An alcoholic is so much more than one person with a drink problem, it generally effects the nearest and dearest people in that persons life. It is a deep issue that must first be identified by the drinker themselves, until they realise the problem exists there is very little anyone else can do in my experience. I always saw any comment made about my drinking as misplaced criticism but truth be told I was probably always aware I had issues. I truly wish you and your family all the best in dealing with this, and NO you are far from alone.
