A little positive thought and energy needed

I'm alone. Been on my own for days. Working from home tonight. The voice whispers: "You can do it, you've earned it, you can handle it now..." I know it lies but it speaks convincingly! Weird, it's not a craving as much as missing old patterns and behavior.

Try to envision how you will feel tomorrow, anxiety sets in and you will feel awful. It's not worth it trust me, I've been there more times than I can count.

Hang in there. We all have thoughts that we know are wrong. One day at a time we can do this. I am sober today, and I will not drink today. Today is a good day. You are not alone. I am glad you posted. We are all here with you.

Any chance of a walk in the fresh air, get your coat and go for it!! . . . Time to change things up and do something different to remain Sober!!

I used to do this all the time, ipod in, coat on and hello fresh air!! . . . you gotta break those old patterns at all costs!!

take a good long look into the mirror
when I do that
I see the one who has deceived me the most

yes -- that is the one that I need to keep an eye on

I wish to think that I can always trust myself
but -- after some time sober now -- I'm just not sure about that
required -- another trip to the mirror

thank God that I (do not act) on all of my thoughts today

MM

Thank you guys! I am NOT alone! Mirror first, dogs out to play just before dusk. While thinking about the aftermath. The voice loved to omit the aftermath and hide the memory of previous failure. Thank you!!!

I can relate to missing the old patterns and behaviors. Every once in awhile the voice will creep up on me as well and I have to literally stop what I'm doing and refocus. I also switched up my routine and became a (gasp!) coffee drinker! So there's still always something within reach but it just doesn't contain alcohol anymore.

You can do this!

Just a little reminder Justadude We tend to have short term memory loss.

We drank for happiness and became unhappy.
We drank for joy and became miserable.
We drank for sociability and became argumentative.
We drank for sophistication and became obnoxious.
We drank for friendship and made enemies.
We drank for sleep and awakened without rest.
We drank medicinally and acquired health problems.
We drank for relaxation and got the shakes.
We drank for bravery and became afraid.
We drank for confidence and became doubtful.
We drank to make our conversation easier and we slurred our speech.
We drank to feel heavenly and ended up feeling like hell.
We drank to forget and were forever haunted.
We drank for freedom and became slaves.
We drank to erase problems and saw them multiply.
We drank to cope with life and invited death.

'The voice loves to omit the aftermath & hide the memory of previous failure.' Well said justadude. I'm so glad you made it over that hurdle.
