Well - He called and Apologized - Whatever are they thinking?
Well - He called and Apologized - Whatever are they thinking?
My son called tonight, after over a week of silence. He said "I wanted to wait to apologize until I could also pay you back the money and I have it here if you'd like to go for a coffee".
So I picked him up and he said he was really sorry he had lied about the money. He said he was so tired of being broke (he hadn't started the job yet) and just wanted some cash for day to day stuff, but that he knew it was wrong the minute he did it.
Before we went for coffee, he took me in to the "clean house" and had his counsellor tell me that he had been tested twice a week and tested clean every time. And he paid me back every dime.

Now get this...he said that he was sorry not to have called sooner, because he knew that I must have had a terrible week...and when I told him that no, I had had a really good week he just got the strangest look on his face. After we talked he realized that I really did have a good week and I think it surprised him.
Anyway, all is well...it always is, one way or the other. And I am grateful that I didn't spend the week "second guessing", as Ogly would call it.
And I am grateful that he found the courage/humility to apologize and that he is still doing well in his recovery...one day at a time.
And yes...I kept the money...every dime!
Love you all for being here to share with and for helping me build up my strength when I was going down for the third time only a few months ago.

Ann,
I'm happy for you, it does always work
out, doesn't it? I laughed when you
said your son had a strange look on his
face, they do expect us to fall apart-
cause that's what we have always done!
My kids get that look too, they know
I'm on a journey, and I come up with
inspirational and positive stuff now,
when BEFORE I would have a totally
negative input. It is getting better!
