8 months tomorrow.
Well, as title says, It's been pretty good so far, last week or so I've had some cravings otherwise I don't really have them much. The first two months were the worst. I really hope I can make it this time. My record of being sober is 12 months from 1996. If I can make that, I'm afraid my challenge will be to stay the course. I don't do any program and to be honest I'm not a dry drunk either. I was just so darned fed up with the fights with my wife, the guilt, the anxiety, the hangovers and the general sluggishness. Not to mention all the money I was wasting. It's not an easy ride all the time but my life is so much better without the alcohol.
My father passed away in January and I thought that surely the cravings for drink will come, actually It didn't phase me at all. I don't want to sound like it's an easy task to stay sober but to be honest, this time around will power had a lot to do with it. I know this might ruffle some feathers and it doesn't rhyme with 12 step programs but so far it works for me. Just wanted to share in case some newcomers need inspiration.
