drinking again
drinking again
last couple weeks ive started drinking again. spending most of my grocery money on alcohol. im not sure what started it up again i just know i have the ball and chain tied to me again. i feel i may be one that never recovers
hey adore
I disagree.
I think you probably slacked off a little on working on your recovery, got a little complacent, and didn't put up much of a fight when the thought entered your head.
I know...I did that myself in the past.
It doesn't mean you're doomed never to be sober, it just means none of us can take our sobriety for granted, adore.
What were you doing when things were working well? can you work your way back to doing that again?

I've felt that way before too. I felt it was my fate to be a drunk forever. It is in my upbringing and in my DNA. But it's not true. We can decide to stop and stay stopped. It's definitely not always easy but you can stop and decide on sobriety at any time.
Adore, I know you feel defeated and this is a huge struggle that I face with you but just give it another try. We are stronger than we think. As Dee says it is having the right tools to deal with this addiction. Don't give up. Let us know how you are x
U r here, that's important. U have the desire to quit. U have every ability to concentrate on yourself. U also don't have to put alcohol in you. I know it is difficult, but there is no gun to your head. You have a choice. You made a right choice coming here. Make a proper choice not to drink. U can do it. It takes more EFFORT & MONEY to drink. Not drinking requires you merely do nothing, inherently. You are worth it. Don't give up! Don't let the "addict voice" tell you that you are not capable of having joy any longer.
Don't give up giving up, Adore. If you keep on trying you WILL get there
And you're reaching out here, so the desire to overcome this is still very strong. Let us walk with you while you're struggling - we're all on your side

Welcome back to SR. I remember you. Saddens me to hear of this news your now sharing today. As for feeling like you'll never recover, I've been there too back in my day. Its lonely times when we feel lost and defeated. Drinking offers some relief, but takes its price in other ways, and then eventually takes away the relief too. No real up-side to drinking for you, or for me, or for so many of us here at SR. You know, feelings change, and I hope this thread goes some length to help you change out your feelings about quitting.
Good your sharing. That itself helps more then it seems. Helping ourselves is the hardest thing to do when were drinking. Quitting at first seems harder, and then it does get easier to stay quit. Challenges come and go, and we can stay quit no matter what. I still believe in YOU. I know you can again believe in yourself too. Sorry your having a rough time with the alcohol right now, but I believe you'll turn things around.
I hope for you a better day ASAP.

the fact is however the more you relapse the harder it is.
this is coming from hard won personal experience.
keep coming back.
and try to keep the plug in the jug.
you know you can do it

Hi Adore, thanks for posting. Sometimes fear can be a motivator as most here will tell you. It can get much worse. If I can get back on the horse you can too. There is hope friend keep at it.

Try to stay positive. We all fall but put your foot down grit your teeth and say " I WILL NOT LIVE LIKE THIS" " I am better than this and am a special person"
Surround yourself with good people in your life. And as said take one day at a time.
I believe in you. As you are wanting to help yourself as your here talking to us now.
Fight because if you truly want to be sober you will be.
Much love to you
