Three weeks down, feeling better and uh oh!!!

Ok, I knew it but it's here!! Three weeks in and my symptoms are starting to settle down. My headaches and nausea are disappearing, exhaustion is ebbing, my side still aches, my nerves frazzled, but still improvements are coming every day. The sun is starting to shine in MA after a particularly rough winter.....life is stirring and so is my voice telling me my prime drinking season is coming!! Let's face it, they are ALL my prime drinking seasons, but this is where I switch my drink! I knew when I started to feel better is when my greatest challenge would slap me around. For how incredibly unpleasant my three weeks were, I felt too sick to drink, now I don't. Saint Paddys party coming, good weather, beach, pools.......VODKA!! Yikes!!! I am going to make an appointment with a counselor this week, I think I need my husband to make the call for me. I know I am being a wus, but for some reason that appt is terrifying for me, probably cuz I have to own up for my **** and hear the truth.

Great work on the three weeks! Your body is thanking you. No St. Patrick's for me. In an abundance of caution, I am avoiding drinking situations (except unavoidable work-related ones). I figure that it will be relatively easy later on to straighten out any misunderstandings among friends that may have arisen from my new pattern.

Thankfully have my sons swim meet that weekend, good excuse! May run to my friends house to say hi, thankfully this group is rowdy, but doesn't give a hoot if someone doesn't drink. If I am tempted, I will have to skip altogether, other than that it's bracelets, necklaces with kids, some crazy nail design for me and off to work on Monday!

Friend-

If possible, try to confine your thoughts to the present. The most important day on your path to remain sober will always be today.

And btw, Congratulations!

Congrats on three weeks.

It's good that you can notice where you're triggers are so you can come up with a plan to stay away from drinking.
