UGH stupid guilt
UGH stupid guilt
Got a phone call a few minutes ago. My little dog died. I had to leave him with axb, as there was no way to bring him with us when we left. Xander was only 5 and I guess he just keeled over and died.
Axb was gone all week at his brother's, though he supposedly stopped in to feed the animals every day. I feel guilty because I'm sure the animals were/are being neglected, but I had humans to keep safe.
Ugh.

If he's neglecting the animals to the point of them possibly being starved to death, please call animal control and/or the local police and have them checked on. The poor animals are innocent victims as well. Starvation is a horrible, slow, extremely painful way to go. I know that saving humans comes first, but animals can't physically walk out, call for help or even attempt to let someone know they're suffering. Please, please help them.
Oh, lady - what a shame.
Please try not to feel guilty. It won't help anything. Maybe you can have a small ceremony for him - plant something in your garden, or send a small donation to the local animal shelter in his honor?
(hugs)

Animal control in Erie has 1 officer who basically only deals with emergencies, and I am in another state and have no way of knowing what the day to day situation is in that house. I had an arrangement with his mother who was supposed to take the animals out if things got too bad.
That poor baby! I'm so sorry for your loss and that you couldn't take him. I could never imagine starving my babies from attention. They would never go for it in the first place but gosh... I'd be just crushed if anything happened to them!
