Hi! I'm new here
Hello everyone...I am new to this site an new to recovery. I went to a detox facility once during the past 12 months, but that wasn't enough to keep me sober for long. I finally surrendered and checked myself into an inpatient facility last month. I spent a week there and I'm now in a daily outpatient program. I am a functioning alcoholic...always employed, financially responsible, nice home, etc..etc... Everything looked fine on the outside, but I was torturing myself...drinking every night after work, drinking way too much on the weekends, feeling like $%@*! I have been sober for 25 days now. I hope I can do it this time!
Welcome to the forum waterscapes, great job on 25 Days!!
I've a very similar story, I know what you mean about the problem being hidden from the world, but when the hangovers start to get worse and feeling sick becomes more frequent, it's time to make a change.
You'll find plenty of support here!! keep pushing through!!

Great job on your 25 days waterscapes - that's wonderful.
I'm glad you found SR. It'll help to read and post here. We're all in this together and we hold each other up. I'm happy you're part of us - you can do this.

Kayla...I would drink a bottle of wine (sometimes more) each night...some weekends I would drink 5-6 bottles during the weekend...and when I did that, maybe once a month, then the cycle would begin where I would have to have something in the morning monday...just to get rid of that awful feeling of uneasiness and anxiety..to basically feel "normal". It was exhausting.

waterscapes, realizing the progression of the disease that is alcoholism is tough. I was up to a fifth of 46% rum a day 7 days per week.
Then after trying to quit one time, I relapsed. Then for me, withdrawal symptoms got worse literally in the course of a week. I went from beginning to have withdrawal symptoms around 6 or 7 ish to getting them at noon.
Everyone is right: hearing all the stories, and getting the support on this site is amazing.
