I am officially someone that doesn't drink

I went to the ER for acute alcoholic gastritis and alcohol withdrawal last night. I literally wanted to die, and I don't ever want to feel like that again.

Welcome! I'm sorry you had to go through that. You don't ever have to feel that way again! Do you have any thoughts as to what you're going to do to stay sober?

Congrats on your new lifestyle. Do you have a plan to stay sober?

You posted the above on 12/21/12. A year ago. Hang in there. Do you have a plan? You don't have to keep living on the roller coaster.

Glad you got some help for the acute symptoms, hope you are feeling better today. The silver lining to alcoholism is that it's 100% your choice if you want to feel like that or not. Hopefully you can find some of the help you need here at SR to form a sobriety plan and help stick to it. Do you think you might try some local meetings/support? That can be very helpful in the early days especially.

I'm going to see my personal doctor and consider AA.

I'm so sorry you had to experience that.

Make this your before and after moment.

Be well.

I felt like a fraud, and the doctor seemed very judgmental. But I think he was just busy.

Not all doctors understand addiction, that's for sure.

I'm not sure why you felt like a fraud. It's good that you're seeking support.

Just let his attitude go high above your head, as long as you get the help you need, his personal opinion is of no importance.

I agree with Kate. Don't take on the Drs attitude. I work in an ER and we can all become less than our usual lovely selves when it's crazy busy. I am glad you are ok. Been there myself, take care.xxx
