December Serenity

It has been 5 months since I stopped drinking (got drunk) on a daily basis. The first 45 days were sober, and then I started drinking occasionally on weekends.

I want to stop drinking completely, but for now I can honestly say, "I have changed my life."

It maybe a slippery slope, but it was one that for years I was in a free fall with no hopes of traction.

This is the best December I have had in a really long time.

My drinking "career" spans over 43 years.

During that time I have had periods of sobriety from almost a year, to less than a day.

Did the "weekend-only" thing for several years.

Always eventually modified my "weekend-only" schedule to include Holidays, bad day at work, good day at work, etc.

ALWAYS ended up drinking more than when I quit. May take a few months, or even a few years, but I end up drinking every day.

And it gets a little harder to quit each time.

That is what keeps me sober today.

I know I could drink now with now and not have any immediate problems.

I'm not drinking today because I want to be sober tomorrow.

This is the best December I have had in Decades.

Good Luck Solosweat!

I'm happy to hear you're moving forward in your quest for sobriety.

Sobriety is possible if you really put all your energy into it. Good luck!

Happy for you that you have managed some control over the poison. Do you want to take it to the next level?
