Need to vent to anyone....
Need to vent to anyone....
I don't want to complain to my husband (whom I'm separated from), or my family, for various reasons, but I am having a little panic attack tonight, and, yes, I'm having wine.
I left my husband and cashed in my 401k to be able to pay for it (I was a stay at home mum to our kids and hadn't had a "real" job since having kids). I've been looking for work since I left to support myself and kids and have made enough to cover half my rent for next month.
I'm not trying to get sympathy, just really need an ear and to voice all this as I now have $14 in my checking account and am panicking (and crying) tonight.
Thanks to anyone for the ear.

Do you have anyone who can give some support ? Do you have access to welfare or social security (sorry, not sure how it works in the US). Unfortunately, drinking won't make the problem go away. Are you able to stop now ?

kind of reminds me of me back when I was drinking
the bottle seemed to be an escape (if only for a while)
nice to have you here cheeky
possibly you wish to join us with some sobriety time
you can do it
as we know the drinking only depresses us even more
hang tight
and
be grateful for your kids in your life

From the information you have supplied, I suspect you are eligible for some types of assistance. Not wanting to take help? This might be a time to consider setting pride aside for the well being of your children.
Think of it this way, at a later time, when you are back on your feet, you can pay it forward and help another who is in the situation you are in now.
All of our taxes pay into the assistance, so you will end up supporting others in the future, as you have in the past through the taxes you pay on your income.
If you lose your shelter due to inability to pay rent, there are shelters that take in women with children.
Drinking won't help you, your children or your financial situation. I understand how scary this is, and understand your panic. I lived in poverty with three young children a number of years ago, and ended up homeless myself last year. But it IS easier to get back on our feet and headed in the right direction when we take help to get started, and stable.
Many communities have programs to help people get a job, including training. Check into those resources in your area as well. The community is better and healthier when people are safely housed and employed and you ARE helping your community by making use of these svcs.
Panic is very paralyzing. I am SO glad you came here, vent away. Many people here have been in circumstances similar to yours and we understand how scary and overwhelming it can be, and we also understand how drinking never helps.
hugs
