Tonight I am thankful for...

The fact that I decided to taper off and then had my last drink on the 13th, meaning I have been able to consciously tuck my daughter into bed for a week now. She told me tonight "mommy, I like you much better this way." Motivation right there in those 2 precious blue eyes.

What a lovely thing to be grateful for! One of my favorite parts of sobriety also involves being able to put my boys to bed, tuck them in, and kiss them goodnight (I used to keep chatter to a minimum--didn't want them to hear me slur-- and blow kisses from the doorway--boozy breath).

I too was able to recently start giving my kids that same gift. I woke up most mornings having to ask my wife if I tucked my kids in... It's still hard to get past that. It is such a great decision you have made. May Gob bless you and your family.

Tonight I'm thankful that I drove home from work without stopping at the liquor store despite multiple opportunities.
