Day 5 Looking Upward?

Hello everyone, I'm five days sober after having a huge falling out with a recently made "friend". I've decided that my years of substance abuse and escapism tactics will not get me anywhere, especially when it comes to living the positive and healthy life I want. I'm sounding surprisingly optimistic to myself right now, but I know there are going to be days when I wish I had some vice to fall back on instead of living through the stress and anxiety. I have some pretty fierce anxiety issues that make my stress level go through the roof when dealing with day to day conflicts. But like Ayn Rand said "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality." and so I plan to do better for myself as well as those around me. If anyone needs someone to talk to, I'm a very good listener and I will do my best to help you. Cheers for sobriety people!

Lovely post, Kidlen, with a nice two-way door enclosed. Welcome to SR.

I'm glad you've made 5 days, that's 5 little battles won. You'll find many of us understand the stress & anxiety issues so you're not alone there.

Love your attitude Kidlen. You've come to a wise conclusion. Wish I had decades ago. Happy to have you join the family - it's a great place.
