Help for my Sister
Hello,
This is my first time posting here and I need some advice please.
My younger sister has been an alcoholic for over 3 years
and was hospitalized twice. The last time she was admitted, the
Dr. told her that if she started drinking again, she will die. She has scirosis, neuropathy and an eating disorder all attributed to alcohol abuse. She started
drinking again in December 2012 and I am afraid she is going
to die. I believe she does not eat because it would absorb most
of the alcohol and she has very limited funds to purchase more.
she is also taking pills, I know one is Vicodan the other is a sleeping
pill. She lives alone and basically is on the couch every day. I live in another
state and when I try to talk to her on the phone, she hangs up on me
if I mention anything about her drinking. Because of this, I was thinking of
writing her but I don't know what to say or if that's the right thing
to do. Hoping someone could give me advice. Thank you.

Hi AmeliaEmily -welcome.
I'm sorry for your situation but I know you'll find a lot of support here.
It's really tough to watch our loved ones suffer - I think it's really important you find help and support for yourself in dealing with all of this.
Have you ever thought of AlAnon or NarAnon?
we also have family and friends forums you might be interested in too.

Thank you for responding. I have thought about going to
a AlAnon meeting. I have always had a family member with
an alcohol or drug problem so I think it would help me.
I was 16 yrs. old when my brothers were abusing drugs/alcohol
so have been exposed to addiction for 30 years now.
