Hello, I live in rural Virginia without transportation to meetings so I am trying this site out to meet people who are trying to stay sober as I am. Any suggestions on how to get the most out of this site will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi sonjo, welcome. I would say read the forums, post, ask questions. Reach out to people here if you are struggling. There is lots of good advice and support to be found here. The chat room has a meeting on something related to recovery every Tuesday and Friday 9pm EST.

Hey sonjo, welcome. There is plenty of help and advice here for those beginning their sober journey. There is a thread Class of August 2013 for folk giving up this month going through all the same issues you will. Also there is the 1 year and under thread where newcomers and longer term recoverers can help. There are links to threads teaching AVRT techniques and we also have a chat room. Another thing you can consider, is online AA and other support groups, if you have no meetings near by. Good fortune !

Hi, Sonjo. I am on my 5th day of sobriety. Not coincidentally, I am on my 5th day at SR. I haven't been sober for this long in 20 years. SR has been a lifeline for me. The people here really do "get" what you are going through. And that has helped me so much. I pop in and out of the chats, read the forums, and compare notes with others. Good luck. Welcome to SR.
