Hi!

Hi everyone. This is Day One. Have been trying to stop drinking for ages but it's been like banging my head against a brick wall. Recent liver function tests not good, so have to make it this time!
Feeling a bit frightened - but determined!

Hello, and welcome.

I, too, tried to stop for many years. Heck, I joined here six years ago, (under a different name) and have been sober two and a half years now. Took me awhile.
Stoping can be done. It takes willingness and desire not to drink more than you want drink.

Save yourself the misery I went through and please find a way to stop. Many find AA helpful.
If you put the energy into not drinking that you did in drinking you can't go wrong.
Just remember where that first drink will take you.

Glad to have you here.

Welcome Seanagh . Lots of great support and advice here. If your past attempts at sobriety have not been successful maybe look at your recovery plan, do you need extra support?. I had elevated LFT levels... that was the wake up call i needed to get sober. I stopped drinking over 10 months ago now and levels are completely normal. The body usually heals very well given the chance. I am fit, healthy and free from a life of misery. Turn that fear you are feeling into your motivation to get sober and well. Best of luck .
