Flirting with sobriety
Flirting with sobriety
It took 6 FRICKEN days after my last binge (2.5 bottles of wine, and even that didn't do it) to FINALLY start to feel human again.
SIX DAYS. Gone.
It used to be a few hours. Then a day. Then two. Now it's six ?!?!
Da feck.
My dear friend, Silent Run, advised me to "beg, borrow or steal" those first precious months of sobriety.
Those words have been resonating in my soul.
I'm also flirting with the idea of hitting the hallowed halls of church basements again.
Clearly, I need more support.

Dang. Glad I never drank that kind of wine. Believe me I drank plenty of other stuff that made me feel like crap! I prefer the way I feel now. Oh I loved the buzz but alcohol gets the better of me than I it. That's when enjoyment , fun becomes a problem. And that's why I'm here.
Kindling...it's ruined many a recovery as people are scared to go through the withdrawals that get progressively worse.
Staying sober it the best way to ensure you remain on the recovery journey. Relapses just push the bar higher and higher until it's a hurdle you can't get over.

This is the place to be for support, SR has helped me stay sober for 3 years and 2 months today. Ya know, I am so slow to learn and change that I'm only beginning to understand and comprehend just how powerful addition to chemical substances is. However you cand do it, rootin for ya.
