From here on out

I'm only on day 2 and had a great insight.

I suddenly realized now that I've left drinking behind, I suddenly will be able to live better. I will be able to safe more money. I will be able to form normal relationships. And all the mess drinking used to make, will no longer happen.

And what it caused in the past, well, that will fade away anyway. There are no permanent consequences in my case, fortunately.

Although I knew this on some level, now that I have gotten a little distance from the drinking, I saw it clearly.

So it seemed fitting to start a new thread focusing on the positive.

Sure, right now I'm detoxing and not feeling very well to say the least, I can now see that that will pass and things will get better.

Just something I wanted to share. I hope it inspired others as well.

Welcome to SR and congratulations on your sobriety.

This is a great list. Get through your detox, take it one day at a time and I think you will see that the sky is the limit.

Good for you Dorian! I'm glad you are able to think positively about what sobriety can offer you - try to focus on your fantastic list as early sobriety can have you feeling extremely up and down.

I would also suggest making a plan. Cravings and tempting situations can hit you at anytime so it's best to be prepared. Trust me, I'm learning this the long way round!

Reading and posting here is great, obviously. I've picked up some incredible advice on beating cravings and tempting situations by being part of SR.

All the best on your journey, I remember something someone said to me when I started my sober journey "Enjoy painting your new life on your clean slate". I would like to pass these words on to you. Good luck.

Day 4 here and we can do this! We should be proud of ourselves for seeking sobriety. Great post.
