Another soul lost to addiction

My friend ended his life over this disease. He couldn't get living sober. He was a wonderful person who had two children and made people laugh. I hate this disease. I have so much to be grateful for. But number one is for my sobriety. Without that, I can end up the same way. It is a reminder of how powerful this addiction is. Prayers for all the sick and still suffering tonight.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. Death is a terrible way to end the struggle but at least your friend's suffering has come to an end. Perhaps even more terrible is to watch a friend change over time, to become a slave to alcohol or some other substance, to see a soul wither away.

I'm so sorry. I lost a very close friend of mine a couple of years ago the same way. It's shattering, and a very real reminder of what this can lead to. Hang in there.
