Sad news today
Just received a text message telling me that a good friend passed away. Liver and kidney failure, and they think also liver and bone cancer. No one even knew he was sick, and it went bad very quickly And yes, alcohol played a role. He was a heavy drinker. and in his early 50's.
This makes six good friends in the last two and a half years that have died due to health issues from drinking.
So sad. And, wake up call after wake up call...hello? Just reinforces my decision to not drink. Alcohol is poison.

Thank you everyone. He was an important part of our family for a number of years. He taught me how to drive a standard transmission car. Took my mom to see Willie Nelson because she really wanted to go to a concert but didn't have anyone to go with after my dad had passed away. I was driving home from work picturing his goofy walk as he'd come up to the front door, just stopping by to hang out and watch tv at our house because he liked it better than being at home with his own family.
He leaves behind two beautiful daughters, his mom and stepdad, his brother and sister and their families, and his friends.
Life is short. Let's not waste another day of it on alcohol.

Ah! I am so sorry for your loss! It's a reminder why it is so important for us to stay sober. Hug's for you, and to his friends and family. Stay close, you don't have to drink today
My condolences to you for the loss of a dear friend, and to the family. I, too, have lost loved one's due to this disease. This makes the reality of drinking and it's destruction very real to this alcoholic.
