FEELING GREAT about 1 year SOBER!!
FEELING GREAT about 1 year SOBER!!
Today is my 1 year anniversary of giving up my 35+ year alcohol addiction!
While it hasn't been easy and there have been times when I thought there was no way I would make it to this point, I've managed to resist any temptation to drink again.
I am posting this as a message of hope to those of you who are struggling to stay sober. If I can do it, SO CAN YOU!
DETERMINATION intact!

I have been very fortunate to also have the support of several of my close friends who have always been there for me whenever I was feeling low. Being able to place a phone call to folks I have known for years that have also been through the same struggles, saved me from making a bad decision several times.
While the first few months were a daily struggle for me, once my cravings started to subside I found that my determination grew in strength with each passing day.
My advice is this:
1. Admit to YOURSELF that you are the problem.
2. Remove all alcohol from your home.
3. Determine who your TRUE friends are. (hint: not your drinking buddies)
4. Distance yourself from anyone who is a threat to your sobriety.
5. Surround yourself with people who truly care about you.
6. Allow yourself to experience the emotions that will come about by making these changes in your life.
7. EXERCISE and drink lots of water.
8. Just DON'T DRINK. For the next minute, hour, day, week or month... whatever works for you.
Before you know it, you will have a YEAR SOBER!
Only YOU can make this change.
My most important tool for remaining sober has definitely been SR! Whenever I had the urge to drink or my AV was hounding me, I would come here and there was always someone to lend me an ear and inspire me to stay on track.
