my day 1.

Ok Ive tried quitting alcohol on my own, day 3 comes I get sweats shakes and a stressful day at work. I head straight to the beer store and there goes my week. Or Friday comes and the weekend is here. woohoo its beer time. than I sleep all day and waste a good weekend. Today I headed out to the beer store at 3:30, half way there I said to myself why am I going there!!! I turned around came home and found this site. Ive been reading everyones posts for a couple hours and I know I can do this. All you people seem very knowledgeable and helpful.

Hi! It's day 1 for me as well. Congratulations on your awesome decision to walk away from the beer store. That takes some serious strength.

Best of luck, stay strong!

Welcome ItsGo!

I did that same cycle forever. I wish I'd seen the light many years ago. I'm glad you have! You can do it.

Good for you on resisting that annoying addiction voice we all are more than familiar with. This is a great place to get support and encouragement for all stages of recovery. Welcome!!

You were heading out to the beer store, you stopped, turned around and went home. Remember how it felt when you made that decision. Go back to that moment when the cravings set in. The fact that you did this once shows that you have an inner strength that's just waiting to get out. Hang in there. Keep posting.

Good choice. It's the first step towards building a plan for sobriety. Stay connected and use the support.
