day number 8
day number 8
I am officially one week sober! I am sure that isn't all that much, just a beginning really. But it is the longest I have been sober in over a decade, and I must admit. It feels good. I wasn't a super all day long drinker so the withdrawals haven't been so bad. Kind of up and down. The insomnia is killer but it's like an every other day kind of thing. One night I get maybe 2 hours, then the next I'm so exhausted I get 6-7, then I am rested so I can't get to sleep. Last night was a looong night. I woke up tired, cranky, and smoked too many cigarettes. But it beats the heck out of waking up hungover or still drunk. I could get used to this. Happy Independence Day, folks. I couldn't be doing this without SR.

Yay!! Good for you!!!! That is amazing - and it gets easier and better in so many ways. Keep sober and you will see
How fitting we are celebrating Independence Day by maintaining our own independence!!
I'm proud of all of us who are sober today!!! Woo hoo SR!

Congratulations on 8 days!
The insomnia hangs around for awhile. But, like you said, beats the heck out of a hangover!
There are some inexpensive caffeine-free herbal teas at the supermarket that are helpful for relaxing in the evening.
Also, check out some of the vitamin deficiencies that long-term alcohol abuse causes (B- vitamins, thiamine, I forget the others). Some of these can affect sleep and / or mood.
Hang in there! You'll be in double-digits (day 10) by the weekend.

Thanks guys, you are all great.
I have tried the chamomile tea, sometimes they help, sometimes I don't know... but what the heck, I still drink them. Haven't supplemented any vitamins yet, just healthy eating. Heck yeah. Can't wait for double digits, but setting this personal milestone feels HUGE. I love it.
Keep up the good work!!
