still trying to figure out the site!

I found this website when looking for fun things to do in my city without drinking. I am having a hard time because I am just starting a probation sentence and I want to do well with it, and try to connect back with my community and self.
I have no sober friends and would like to find some people to connect with here; preferably in my city....
do people from this site meet each other to give support or just talk online?

Welcome Victoria. I believe most of us just communicate online. We're here to offer each other support while getting sober, or in recovery. But that doesn't mean you can't meet members outside of the forum. Just be careful if you do meet up with someone. I'm sure all of us here at Sober Recovery are decent individuals, but it's always a good idea to be cautious.

At the very least stick around here; I'm sure you will find something that interests or helps you.

Thanks! I have experience with online dating so I know to be cautious haha
but I put good faith in others... especially ones that are trying to be sober! But thanks again for the heads up. I do plan on sticking with this just to be an extra support system. I live in a downtown area and am in my early 20's so sober life will be a big change, but I'm looking forward to what it can bring!

Hi Victoria

If you're looking for support to stay sober this is a great place to be.
We are pretty much an online based discussion group tho

I know many cities have sober meet up groups, and AA is probably the most obvious way to make new sober friends.

Hobbies and interests can lead you to like minded souls too, and I found volunteering was a great way to get back in contact with people and do something worthwhile

I agree with all Dee says here.

Been on quite a few forums catering for young and old (I'm 71) and SRF is the best for me.

I agree with Dee's suggestions about meeting sober people in your area. And yes, volunteering is a great way to do good for others and for yourself too.

I'm glad you joined us!
