New to the site...
Hello,
New to the site. Have been in and out or recovery for the last two years, with periods of "trying" moderation. I've tried AA (I hate it), went through a program through my insurance, and am now trying it on my own with the help of a private counselor. Not sure what my recovery is going to look like or how to make it stick...Just know I don't like AA and don't want to go back there.

SR is a great source of support for me; glad you found it. I understand your thoughts about AA. I'm not a frequent meeting person. I, however, have realized that when my addiction is really kicking me I am willing to do anything...even if that means sitting in a meeting...at least I know I'll stay clean and sober for that hour Glad you are here!

and best to you...
no matter what program or method you choose you may find success in your recovery by trying to help another person who is trying to recover...
be it counseling, a group setting, volunteer work, church, SR, so many opportunities for you and you can be of immense help.

Welcome to SR
There's many different approaches and methods of recovery around - here's some links to some of the main players, including AA but also listing many non 12 step varieties:

I recommend you visit the Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach.
