Step 1 = I can't.

Step 2 = He can.

Step 3 = Let Him.

God = HP

Made a decision to turn our will and life over to the care of God
as we understood Him. (Step 3)

For me, I do think so.

I think the point was the word "let". You are still putting yourself in there.

let - To give permission or opportunity to; allow

I think it has do with trust.

trust - committed into the care of another, To place in the care of another

I have to turn "My will" over to HP every morning in my meditations.

The prayer is "Thy will, not mine, be done" That is my point. Myself chooses
to make a conscious decision to "Let Him." Trust comes in Step 2. "He can."
Try reading the black

No problem and I wasn't offended.
I can see it is a simple personal interpretation. Here's how I worked it.
In Step 2 I "Came to believe." That is where my trust started. I had to
trust it would work for me if I did the rest of the Steps.

Then in Step 3, I "Made a decision." to turn it over and do Steps 4 thru 12.
I had to give my will to HP. Thus I let Him. If you view it differently that is
fine. Most importantly for you, me and all of us is to work the steps and the fact that you are examining the meanings shows you are doing that.

If my comment sounded snarky, I apologize. My fellow AAer's always tell
me I tend to be a wise acre now and then. I am trying to "Let HP" help me improve on that one.

I heard an AA speaker once say that it was arrogant of us to say we would "let" God...that he needs our permission?...

That's all I meant...yes, the word "let"....was what I was thinking...I didn't think I would let God...but thank you Uncle Meat for showing me that when I turn over....it is like "letting"...I have learned again.

I should have explained myself rather than posting what I did. Simply repeating something I heard from an AA speaker with no explanation was wrong of me. I opened my mouth when I shouldn't have, with a critical spirit.

Please forgive me Uncle Meat.

There are no mistakes in recovery. By posting what you did, you opened up
a great discussion.

Also, thanks chunks for posting the quotes everyday.
