Geared Up.

I'm geared up for my fifth step sometime next week; just wondering where these events are usually held?

Hi Murch, I actually did my 5th step at the same spot by a lovely river where I used to get drunk. Cuz I wanted to create a new positive memory there. And I did.

Someplace where both are comfortable (physically, it can take a long time), that it absolutely private (not a coffee house!) and where you won't be interrupted.

Mine was in the woods at a camp site.

I did my first one on the bleachers at a high school football field...ha ha.

I heard a fifth the other day sitting on a park bench, away from the crowds, listening to the birds in the background and watching the sun peek in and out of the clouds.

I suggest somewhere away from prying ears and where there is no sense of being rushed.

Private study room at the local library. Worked perfectly.

Once in treatment, twice in a car, once in a home, once over the phone, once in church.

~

I just realized I have done 6 (at least)...(many confessions in churches over the years)...

6 5th steps...

and I have just over one month since last drinking.

I'm thinking that the 5th step, didn't remove my alcoholism.

I think the best part about the 4th and 5th step is seeing the truth about myself...

It's too bad though that my ego fights to hold on to outside dependence.

? Is this right...Boleo! Are you out there?

Well, at least we are aiming towards perfection.

I sat with my feet up on a sofa in my sponsors house with my knees tucked under my chin and my hands gripped tightly round them to hide the fact I was shaking...

It was really quiet and peaceful and a night I will remember forever x

I agree. Most libraries have small conference rooms or tutor rooms available to card holders for no charge.

Not into 'perfection' just personal betterment in the long haul.........
I see the whole A.A. PROGRAM of value not only re alcohol which exacerbates our worst faults, but also as a great character building program.

The park, yeah, that takes me back over 50 years. Thanks!
Pity winter has just started here in Melbourne.
