Day 2
Anxiety and anger that most likely comes from detoxing from this stupid toxic crap.
Coming back to reality and not being confident you can ever abstain is just pissing me off and is quite perplexing.
Im going to keep trying no matter what.

I don't think anyones ever confident of that at the start, certainly not coming off a relapse.
I wasn't confident either, but I did stay sober, so it is possible.
'abstaining forever' was a kind of meaningless construct - 'abstaining today' was more real and achievable.
My memory fails me, I'm not sure what you've been doing for your recovery NewHouse - are you thinking of adding new things, maybe doing things differently this time?
maybe it's time to change things up?

Minute by minute, sparking waters galore.
Don't want to wake up sweaty at 4:00am dreading the next day
Don't want to gain weight
Sick of feeling off balance
Tired of feeling unorganized
Want my energy back
Want to remember tonight
Don't want to ingest liquid depressants anymore
Want to read tonight
Want to think tonight
Want to make this right
I could have a day 3 tomorrow
I could go to the gym feeling good
I could gather strength for day four if I can only make it to day three tomorrow

Crazy, I just sent you a pm. I know what you mean. It feels like everything in life requires hard work and dedication, because we're so busy undoing all the crap we tangled ourselves up in these past years.
I've heard testimonies of all kinds of emotions coming up during detox, along with insomnia. When the body detoxes in general, the "yuck" is trying to get OUT! I learned that in doing so, we experience it all while it's on its way out. Not cool, but totally necessary. No pain, no gain. Hope to hear from you soon!

I can totally relate, NewHouse. Let's see.... Made it to Day 5 last month, then slip up, made it to Day 8, then slip up and made it to 18 days this month, then slipped up 2 days ago. I am so freaking tired of this cycle. I feel so good when I am not drinking and then I slip up and have to start all over. I am just so angry and disappointed in myself. I see how other people in my April class are almost at their 1 month mark and I so want that for myself. I keep thinking what is wrong with my that I can not be that strong?
I think it's a mistake to try and judge your efforts against others.
We can only look from the outside - we have no idea how many times others have tried before, or what else they're doing for their recovery besides the posts we see here...we have only the barest idea what else is going on in their lives or how much other support they have
I can guarantee that everyone here can identify with wanting to stop but picking up again.
The key is to add more things. We need to put more effort into staying sober than we do in getting that next drink.
It's not easy - getting a drink is simple, its offer immediate gratification and effect, and the payback can always be put off til tomorrow.
Staying is a lot harder - but so so worth it.
There's so much support here - 24/7 - use it guys
you can do this
