Confession

I was offered work in another city for tomorrow. The pay is double for one Demo. I told my employer that i have a doctors appointment, and that i will not be able to come in because I need to rest after I get the cortisone shot in my back ( I actually have the appointment for Monday on my day off. I do have to take it easy afterwards)
I feel bad that i am lying, but at least the check from this Demo will not bounce and send my account into a tail spin. So, I am confessing to you all that I have lied and it feels horrible. Being dishonest is hard for me. I feel like crap.

Sorry, Mizzuno. I feel terrible when I lie, too. What happens if they find out?

After all the crap they've done to you I wouldn't feel too bad about it. You have to pay the bills somehow, and you are letting them know ahead of time that you won't be there.

I will most likely be fired. The only way of them finding out is if the owner or Manager are members of this forum. Now, that would be hilarious!

If this is the same employer from previous posts - the one with bounced checks and so on - they're lucky to have you any days of the week.
Maybe the new place will turn into a better job.

You may feel like crap but you are not crap - you're groovy!

It is good to open up and share in a safe place isn't it. However, you are not hurting anyone. And compared to some of the lies that are being banded about the world at the moment it's very tiny.

You're a good man, and I really appreciate all of your posts.

Yes, its the same employer. I can not leave right now. I am doing everything that I can to get out of there. It takes time.

Mizz,

Could you not take a day holiday? I think the 12 steps challenge us all to reach for a higher standard than we had as drinkers. That seems to be part of recovery, though we all fail at times.

God bless you +

I probably just would have cited "personal reasons" instead of creating a false scenerio.

But than again, the only person I refuse to lie to is my wife.

However I try my darndest to be honest with people I respect. However if an employer bounced my check . . . well it was a lie for them to right me that check in the first place, now I have no respect for them and no inner need to be honest or up front with them.

Also, your lie is so very common in the workplace its expected... Like stealing toilet paper and using the xerox for personal copies.... and embezzlment.

I am not able to take a day Holiday. Even in my drinking I was never one to lie about anything. Morally I know that lying is wrong. Im not sure if i am failing in recovery though. I appreciate the sentiment. I think I get where you are coming from.

I think being honest with yourself is good enough and I know that travel is also a big trigger for a lot of us. With that being said, you already have a lot on your plate, I think you should give yourself a HUGE pat on the back for all of your recent accomplishments.

Mizz

They won't find out. They've treated you like sh!t. You deserve a quick paying gig that involves no hassle pay. They've caused you great stress and treated you like dirt.

Go and have a cool, pro day and don't even give a little white lie another moments thought.

Did I mention they've treated you like crap?
