My first day, I'm scared
My first day, I'm scared
I've spent all day reflecting over the last 20 years. I've always known it but finally admit that I am an alcoholic. I have two beautiful boys and feel that they are starting to catch on. I am quitting for me but as a result want me to be a better me and mom. I'm not going the AA route cause its been shoved down mg throat my whole life, my father literally spent his life there,it didn't help my brother so I love this sight. I realize there are so many people with this issue, I read all the post and I feel like I've written them myself. So here goes. I know I will need support so stay tuned....
I think you should be so proud, Yellowtail. It takes a lot to come to this conclusion - and I didn't do it for decades.
I think being here will make a huge difference to you - it's good not to feel alone with this. I had no one to discuss it with - no one understood what I went through. I'm glad you found us - you will find hope and encouragement here.

Welcome Yellowtail
You;re not alone here - you'll find a lot of support
There are other recovery methods besides AA - I encourage you to at least take a look:
There's many different approaches and methods of recovery around - here's some links to some of the main players (including but not limited to AA):

I recommend you visit the Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach.
glad you've found us - I drank for 20 years too - my life started again when I quit.
I think we all deserve that second chance
