Gutted with myself:-(
Gutted with myself:-(
Hi,
I`m gutted with myself I`ve been doing well and feeling stronger all the time-then I had a really stressful week in work and loads of emotions from my past spilling over and drank 2 bottles of wine last night.
I`m gutted with myself!
I`m trying to battle the thought that I`m a hopeless case and just see this as a something to learn from. I`ve resisted to urge to go and buy more now I`m sober today and made made plans for the rest of the weekend with people who don`t drink and plan to start excersising as I don`t think isolating myself in the house was a good idea-too much time to thinkI`m worried I`ve only gone 1 week-have people gone a week fallen off the wagon but then managed to move on to a full recovery?

You can stay stopped. It is not easy, but it can be done!
Rational Recovery
SMART
AVRT
Life Ring
Women for Sobriety
SOS
Power to Quit
AA
All have their own websites. Read about them and when you are ready to stay stopped, you will have a method of recovery to work with!
Sending lots of love and hugs to you!

You can absolutely learn and move on. I hope you will after you're done beating up on yourself.
You can do this.
I fell off the wagon several times over a 3 month period every 2 weeks. I would make it to 2 weeks and them bam, had to have that booze. I would deliberately sabatoge myself so that I would have an excuse to drink. July was the last time I binged and my sobriety date is July 21, 2012. 251 days sober.
I thought I would never do it, but I did. And so can you. I had to get off the pity pot and make a plan as in the past I did nothing. I had to change me. Sugarbear has given you lots of resources you can check out. There is something that will work for you.

I know 'falling off the wagon' is a common expression, but why? It makes it sound like an accident occurred. Drinking is an entirely intentional action. 'Jumping off the wagon' would be more accurate.

You`re right self pity isn`t going to help-I need to stop listening and beating myself up and stay stopped. Thanks for the hope. I`m gonna go now to look at those websites for some tools-thank you all for your time it really helped.
I spent years not being able to get past 3 days sandgirl...
This is not the end of the struggle...it's not a pass or fail deal...
Think about what else you can add to what you've been doing for your recovery...think about what other changes you can make in your life to help...think about where and how you might find more support.
Above all don't give up hope...you can never lose if you never give in

hahaha not enough bacon me thinks! Good question and one I cannot answer. That is just the expression I have always heard and used. But maybe it is fitting as back then, the relapses were never my fault in my mind!
Thanks Dee-that gives me hope, you`re so strong now. I`m gonna look at those resources now and I`m gonna order some biographies of people who have recovered to keep me encouraged. Hope you are feeling better by the way.
Sandgirl, the alcoholic beast wants you to participate in this.
Ok, so it won the first round. You drank.
It wants to you to go for round 2 by making you feel so gutted with yourself that you think the only answer is go buy more....DON'T !
I stopped going in to the ring with my hands tied behind my back...you can too.
