Best Days to Quit: March 30, 2013
While "NOW" is always the best time to quit, those who are making a start this weekend have better than average chances. According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, March 30 is a good day to quit bad habits or wean.
So that means no more drinking right now! Make sure there is none in the house. If you quit Friday (today), your worst day will be Saturday (hopefully a day off from work or classes). I don't understand why people do a big drunk Friday then try to quit Saturday--you just wake up with a hangover and want a drink. Hopefully your doctor knows you're quitting...
Under the guiding hand of its first editor, Robert B. Thomas, the premiere issue of The Old Farmer's Almanac was published in 1792 during George Washington's first term as president. Their predictions are based on astrology and sunspots.

I planned my start date. Jan. 1, 2012. I had a big drunk, it was horrendous. I tried to drink all the alcohol my body would allow. I decided that it was the only way it'd work for me. So far it has. BUT, I immersed myself into a program (AA) and thank god I stuck with it. You are so right, the next day was ROUGH as I realized that before I would nurture my hangover with more booze, but this time around it wasn't an option! I'm not sure I'd recommend this route to anyone...
