hi

Hello, i am new here. I found this site by googling support for families of alcoholics. When i've asked for support in other online sites i belong to, i did not get any good responses. My husband is an alcoholic and i need to learn how to be myself again to help myself, help my kids and learn what i can do to help him. I will be attending my first alanon meeting wednesday morning. I am confused as to wether i tell him i am doing all this or just do it for myself. Things have been really bad lately and talking to him about almost anything is impossible. Not sure how this site works, but i hope it is what i have been looking for. I could really use support from people who know what i am going through.

Sorry for what brings you here. I was the drunk in my family.

I don't know if you should tell your husband. He may react poorly. He is unlikely to change his behavior, and may try to control yours.

We have a forum for family of alcoholics:
Friends and Family of Alcoholics - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

Welcome. Hope our site helps.
