new today
Welcome crow! It should help to be here with us - we all understand how it feels to go through that. It might take your mind off things to read and post. It would be good if you had a doctor's supervision - as HRB suggested.
Glad to have you with us - you can do it.

thanks for the warm welcome.
I am doing this on my own after some pretty intensive research and preparation.
Tapered off for some time (from 11-12 standard drinks a day to 2-3) and now loading up on B complex vitamins, l-Glutamine, water and good food. No serious side effects yet except a little anxious and shaky and my heart rate was high (91 beats/minute) parts of today. I have easy access to health care should it become necessary. I've quit for short times (5 days or so) before with no withdrawal at all but I'm a little worried this time I might not be so lucky.

Great decision to join this site and quit drinking. You sound like you understand the risks of withdrawl and will get medical help if you need it.
This site and the many people on it can help you through this life changing process.
When you have your last drink, you may want to join your monthly group. I quit in May and it has been very helpful being a part of a group going through things together. I wish you well Crowflock.

Welcome crowflock!
Congratulations on deciding to get sober! I'm glad you've got a plan B for medical help if you need it. For me, it was the mental battles that was the most difficult and this place helped me stay sane those first few days.
