It's Just Amazing
how quickly their "good intentions" fall by the wayside.
We got into the car to go to work this morning and the smell of booze hit me in the face again, and he had one of his little "road rage" incidents where he nearly (intentionally) rammed into another car because the driver didn't stop at the stop sign long enough to suit him. He's become sullen and petulant again when sober because I "don't believe" him when he tells me how hard he's trying to control his drinking - he would not appreciate it if I told him it's not that I don't believe him, I just know how pointless it is, because he simply can't control it. He complains that we no longer have anything in common, and he's right since his life revolves around booze and mine doesn't.
Ah, well - at least tonight should be pleasant. We have our 3-year-old grandson for the night, and the one thing we will always have in common is how much we love that kid. I'll worry about tomorrow when it gets here.
