If I could trade sobriety skills with someone,
I would give them some of my ability to encourage others,
and I would take some of their ability to be brave.

If I could trade sobriety skills I would give away my ability to be around people in groups like AA. It was daunting at first but face to face with people who are just like me is very helpful.
Sure they may look different have different stories but it all goes back to the same issue. We are just trying to get thru this . We are all works in progress , like a painting many different layers, colors etc. I like hearing what they have to say see their expressions. Sometimes tears, sometimes laughter but what I always leave with is a sense of unity

I would give them my ability to be brutaly honest about how, what and why I drank.
I would take the ability to be patient regarding recovery by not overthinking issues, letting my body heal at it's own pace.

If I could trade sobriety skills I would give some of my ability for caring and I'd ask for some ability to care for myself better when I am scared and feel threatened.
