12 Step paraphanelia

I think I have a slight obsession with buying recovery stuff.

I bought:

the new Bill W. movie
a license tag holder that says the road to happy destiny
a chip holder for my desk
some recovery pens
a H.O.W. t-shirt
a 4 and 5 month coins since my group doesn't give them

Does anyone else do this?

Oh, and a whole book about black outs. It is interesting.

I don't have the "7THTRAD" vanity license plate nor the "One Day at A Time" lawnmower cover yet, but I have a whack of recovery and spiritual books, really. But I do have the Bill W. movie that I watched the other day. Whatever makes you happy - better than all the other crap we used to collect (bottles, hangovers, etc.)

Get your AA groove on

I didn't even know there was AA "stuff"! I guess I have seen a couple of people with rings that have the unity symbol on them. I don't mind if people know I'm in AA, but I don't think I'd be comfortable advertising. But that's just me! If you're happy, go for it!

I'm the same...love me AA, but I love my anonymity more.

yup, got me some good recovery stuff here and there. got a "let go and let God" bumper sticker on my computer desk, "one day at a time" sticker on my fridge, and a really cool poster of "are you on the beam?"( shows examples of on the beam and off the beam) next to my computer desk. my memory machine dont work too good and i need them reminders.
if ya wanna read some really good books, check out "dr bob and the good oldtimers" and "pass it on- bill w and the AA message."

My prized possession is an AA coffee mug that says "Sober... but still crazy".

All the best.

You guys should consider yourselves lucky. I've got the same problem only with buying bass guitars... and that can get a bit more expensive.

Hey, maybe I can get into this too.... hmm......

It's a phase of development I went through....combined with the needing to be the 12 step recovery poster child. I got obnoxious with it. Workbooks, guides, cds, 11th step books galore...all in the trunk of my car...like I would happen to stumble upon an entire group of folks wanting the 12 steps delivered instantly or something.

Apparently we go through that phase more than once though. My sponsor sobered up in 1993 and if I hear how Dr. Bob's son introduced him to his wife one more time...And my grandsponsor sobered up in 1978. He drives a BMW with personalized plates that read "RULE 62"

Paul, "one day at a time" lawnmower cover. LMAO!
I just found that so hilarious for some reason. Thanks for the laugh!

I like AA stuff too... I keep it private though. I have a ton of books and I'd like to get myself a medallion or two since my group doesn't give them.

Yup, I have a lot of books and a few pieces of jewelry with the AA symbol built in. I would also like a big book cover with the slot for my chip. Just an example of my obsessive nature at work. But, alas, it won't get me arrested or dead so I'll go with it for now.

I had a lot in the late 80's and recently found some mini bumper stickers with slogans on them! (those bumper stickers were popular back then)

aluminum coins are available for each month of the first year, $.75 each at an intergroup office--not every intergroup office, but at least at 1 intergroup office

I used to always buy the T-shirts. One day, I realized an entire drawer was taken up with ratty program T-shirts.

Oh, and the coffee mugs.....

Oh, and speaker tapes/CD's........

Today, no....I've overcome this problem. Now I simply buy coffee everytime I am near a grocery store.
