It's a good time for me stop drinking

Hello, I just found the forum.

I've been dealing with some difficult things lately and have been under a lot of stress. I've been self medicating by drinking and it's preventing me from being able to fix some of the other problems that need fixing and is just making the stress worse.

In order for me to be able to fix the other issues I guess its time to stop drinking.

I'll see how this goes.

Welcome Pancakesnatcher. You found a great place for support and encouragement. I self medicated, too - and it led to being completely dependent on alcohol later in life.

It's good you're taking a look at what your drinking habits are doing to your life. Keep reading and posting - we care about you.

Welcome to SR!

Drinking nearly ruined my life. My wife and I spent all our money on booze, and I didn't have a job. We both quit drinking 82 days ago, and things are looking much better.

We go to AA and NA meetings several times a week, sometimes together. My wife goes to the women's meeting, and I go to a meeting at a church that she doesn't like. We both have sponsors, who give us personal help.
