Today Marks 3 Years Since Mother's Death
My mother passed away 1-16-10 due to her awful addiction to oxycotin pills.
Today I miss her & today I wish my brother was sober so we could lean on one another. I miss my brother as much as my mother & he is still alive.
I pray that God watches over him today & I pray that one day he realizes his life is worth fighting for.
Despite the pain I feel, I am thankful for all the blessing I do have & I know that many people, probably some of you on this forum, are dealing with much worse situations.
Today I will for all of us!

So sorry for your loss. My prayers for us all is someday to have clean and sober loved ones.
When I feel sorry for my self I also think about the many that have much worse life issues through no fault of their own.
A friend recently lost their battle with a terminal illness with their 12yo daughter. She stayed active and fought for life until the very end.
She never gave up hope, and neither will I. I am learning to not enable and to overcome coodepent behaviors. But, never give up hope that one day they may choose a better life.

Sending you hugs and saying prayers for your brother.
It is so sad to lose those we love to addiction, and I pray that one day your brother finds a better path and can be part of your life.

Three years ago this month, I flew out to California to bring my mentor home. I had only learned recently he was an alcoholic. He hid it really, really well. I lost him 8 months later.
They never really, truly leave us. We carry them. Everything my mentor meant to me is still very, very much alive and very real. And my hope is with your mother, you carry all the good stuff with you every day and let the not-so-good stuff go.
And as far as your brother goes, he'll be in my thoughts and prayers, just like you.
Best,
ZoSo
