Sharing Sober Joy
I went out for dinner for the first time since I quit drinking two months ago. For the past 4 years I had to be tipsy drunk to go out. Hate crowds.
I felt good and I actually laughed and carried on a conversation.
I felt so good I wanted to share my joy so, upon leaving and we paid our bill, I bought dinner for an elderly couple I noticed while I was at the salad bar.
They were still sitting at thier table. They never saw me. I never would have thought about doing something kind for strangers if I had been drunk.
Isn't life cool when your'e sober?

That is fantastic. I actually love being sober. I notice that I am a lot kinder sober and forgiving. I have gone out once or twice and find that I can have a conversation and laugh and feel great eating and then going home sober. I have given to many charities this Christmas season as I now have money not being spent on alcohol. I gave to a foodbank, clothes drive, toy drive and a pet rescue place. Congrats on the good deed!

That's really what life is all about. You can't live it like that without arresting our disease!
Congrats on your sober time.
Congrats on your UNselfish acts of love you shared last night!
Very HAPPY for you!

I share everyone else's sentiments. What an uplifting post Escapist.
I think one of the biggest fears many people have about not drinking is that if they go out they won't have as much fun or will be boring. I would love to hear more good stories about people going out sober and having a better time. In fact I think I may start a new thread asking...
Thanks for the post
