"Anonymity has an immense spiritual significance. It reminds us that we are to place principles before personalities; that we are actually to practice a genuine humility. This to the end that our great blessings may never spoil us; that we shall forever live in thankful contemplation of Him who presides over us all."

It took me awhile to understand the spiritual side of anonymity. At first, I thought it only to protect us from being "outed" in society (although now with the use of smart phones, seems anonymity is not always honored).
But it is also to keep my humble. I still struggle to understand how this was mean to work.

Anonymity for me also helps me put myself on an even playing field with everyone else. For someone like me who had deep self-esteem and "less than" issues, it makes me truly feel that I am part of something, that I belong. And it is in that space that I can start to grow - spiritually, emotionally, mentally. I cannot grow when I am on the outside looking in. Anonymity helps me to get into the circle of love, patience and understanding. I am a part of, not apart from.
