New to Forum, Day 4 sober :-)

Afternoon all..

I'm four days through a 7 day Diazepam detox and feeling pretty great!

I was drinking between half, to a full bottle of vodka every night, so you can imagine how much my mind and body is loving me for stopping!

I broke my neck several years ago (drunk on a pushbike, made a full recovery thankfully)) Have not had a serious relationship for 10 years, cancel seeing friends because I am either drunk or hungover and super anxious and carry a bottle of mouth wash in the car for arriving at work in the Morning, so I don't stink of booze from the night before...

At least these are the things I USED TO DO!

I'm planning on going to an AA meeting Tonight, not really sure about it but will go and see what I think..

Thanks for reading and hope to get to know you all soon

Hey Mezza,
Keeping an open mind to things has been key for me, there is a lot of experience and support in AA and AA'ers to draw from . There are also other paths to sobriety and support like here .

I think nearly everyone we meet in recovery can be a lesson , even if it's a lesson in how not to do something

4 days

Heres a link to some other's experience giving up if you havn't found it already :- http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...at-we-did.html

Keep strong,

Bestwishes, M

Hello Mezza,

Well done for deciding to change your life. Hope you get something from the AA meeting you are planning to attend. I certainly get a lot out of the NA meetings I go to. Welcome to recovery, it only gets better.

Natom.

Welcome Mezza,

I too am in Melbourne area so we are local and wish you the best I am 14 days done on the grog which was my poison of choice but have had history albeit casual use of most drugs out there.

This forum has helped me even if just to vent and I hope it helps you

Welcome! You found a great place to share what is going on with you and hear other stories.
Let us know how your AA meeting went. I got sober with AA and could not have done it without that support so I hope it works for you.
