first day sober

Hi this is my first post and first day sober. I dont want to drink anymore. I hate how I am when I am drinking. I just recently started blacking out each time I drink. My dad and father in law both have been in the hospital from drinking. I do not want that to happen to me.

Hi, Cheeka. Welcome to SR!

Congrats on your fist day and important decision you've made. Life without drinking is much much better!

There is a lot of support, encouragement and understanding here. Read and post as much as you can - it really helps to share your emotions with other people, especially in early sobriety.

Take care.

((cheeka)) - Welcome to SR and congratulations on making the decision to quit drinking. I would like to recommend you see a doctor, as alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. Besides, it's not a bad idea to have a checkup

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

How long does it take to have the alcohol completely out of your system?

Hi cheeka - I'm so glad you joined us. This place is amazing. The support and encouragement you'll find here will make things much easier than trying to do it alone. Just knowing others understand is comforting.

For me, after 3 days I felt much better & less shaky - but I had been on a binge, drinking all day for a few weeks.
