My first meeting ... a success!

Tonight I went to my first meeting -- and I have to say I truly enjoyed it.

I went alone and went early, shaking the whole time, but I did it. I introduced myself to a few people and all were stoked when I explained that it was my first meeting ever... not just at that location. A young man about my age took to me right away and assisted me through the meeting. I got a handful of numbers also.

The girls that I met informed me of a meeting on Tuesday evening that they think I will really like. So, I have something to look forward to now that isn't a whole week away.

Needless to say, thanks everyone for the support and the "push" (in a positive way) to face my fears and attend tonight. I will write a blog about my experience shortly. There is just so much going on in my head right now so I am babbling already.

I'm very grateful for tonight!!

Babble on! I can read that kind if babbling all the time.

Congrats on working up the nerve only to find they don't bite, and almost never eat newcomers. (well, except for that one pygmy group!)

Words cannot explain how very proud I am of you for manning up and going. I know it was hard for you but I am glad you decided to go and see it through.

Like Itchy said babble on...

I also could read those kind of stories all day..

I just love what AA and the people in it, have done for me and my sobriety. Its so cool to read someone elses first step in the doors.. Specially when it went as well as yours..

Keep going and talking to those people. They just might save your life...

Thank you everyone!! I had dreams about it all night. Some were a little unnerving, but overall they were positive ones. I guess I just couldn't get the meeting off my mind.

Veritas -- I have not gotten the book yet. I was going to ask about it next meeting that I go to. I saw a large stack in the room and will inquire how much they are. My friend told me that once I do get the book that I will want to get a sponsor to help guide me through the steps.

Sounds like a great first meeting! Well done! You will get out as much as you put in in this recovery thing!

Put as much effort into your recovery as you did into your using and you will be fine.

Keep listening to that friend of yours...The Big Book is available online...Here you go till you get a copy. Keep an open mind and enjoy it...It really is an amazing and life changing journey....Best thing I've ever done for myself.
