Welcome! AA is working for me.its much more than going to meetings though. It's a program. Follow the steps, work them. I know I want what they have. I'm on day 23 and like I said, it's working for me best wishes
Miss.... You will get a lot of feedback from the seemingly simple question. But don't let anyone tell you about what you can experience yourself.
I hated AA and still find parts a bit of a jagged little pill but I was not doing it for over six months alone and with SR only. I needed the interactions with others.
It's always important to take what you need and leave the rest. This is about you anyway... Not anyone else.
Best of luck to you in finding your way. Stay around here though.... There is no place finer.

Welcome Miss. I tried moderating my drinking, attending AA.....finally stopped on my own and use SR. I think people need to do whatever works for them to get sober. Honestly though, two meetings is probably not enough to make an informed decision.
Please keep posting.....we all ( no matter what method we use) feel passionate about supporting newcomers who are trying to stop drinking!

AA gave me a new way of life. So much more than just freedom from alcohol.
I have stayed happily sober for over 4 years thanks to the program.
As mentioned above the meetings are great, but the real magic happens when we take the steps.
Keep at it!

You can't just show up. I lost my children, family, and friends. AA has been the only thing that worked. But it took a long time of me thinking just going to the meetings would help me. Just because you show up for a meeting doesn't mean your doing the steps. I honestly do not know anyone who has succeeded on their own. You need support. unfortunately when you drive all the people away that you love, AA is still always there. Give it a chance.
