You would think

You would think that i would feel relieved from finally paying off a debt that was looming over my head since i was 19? I cleared up the mess as of this morning and I feel nothing but.....nothing.

Large bills happen when you dont have medical insurance. When you make little to nothing as a teenager and when you run away from the bills.
Irresponsible teenager.

Hmmmmm..... ....( Im trying to feel like < that round circle guy with the party hat)

Thank the powers that be that the 4 years is over!!!!!

Feelings are just that. They come and go and change. For that reason I try not to let them dictate too much.
It sounds like you have done a good thing....the right thing. Something that will give you a little more freedom and control in your life. That is indeed worth appreciating.
I suspect good feelings will show up later as we all continue to make good decisions. If not, then we still get to know and live with the fact that we did the right thing. I think that eventually brings peace even if "feelings" are a lagging indicator.
Have a great week!

Teenager? I'm in the same boat and I'm 55. That's what alcoholism does to you.

Even if you feel nothing right now, the bill is no longer hanging over your head like a dark cloud. Medical bills and bill collectors are such a pain. Good job on getting rid of it!

I was relieved when i paied off my last debt and then started to invest and save.
I think it is the sencible and sober thing to do, it's also nice when you get a dividend from someone out there whos made use of what would have been, in my old life, drinking money.

Bestwishes, M

Well done, Mizzuno. The big benefit is how that memory place holder smells now. When your mind wanders to that old debt, it will smell like roses and give you a warm fuzz instead of a cold prickle. And that is a good thing.

Thanks everyone! As the hours pass, I am feeling relieved. It's done. It's effing done. When I started this task I was very uncertain. Determination pays off. I can honestly say that I will never let something like this happen again.....I will do everything in my power to keep it all in the positive.

An anticlimax is better than none at all.
Glad it sunk in!
