A prayer for strenght

As I was thinking today about where to find the strength to not drink I remembered a prayer I learned years ago. It helped me then, and I think will be helpful now. So, I thought I would share. May be it will be of use to someone else.
The Prayer of Jabez
And Jabez called upon the God of Israel saying, "Oh that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, and that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain." and god granted him what he requested. 1 chronicles 4:10

A simple request please be with me, keep me from evil(alcohol), so I cause no pain to myself, or anyone else. Day 3 and all is well.

Here is one for you...I was named after St. Jude. My mother was very sick carrying me and her doctor actually gave her the choice of saving her or me. She prayed to St. Jude...The Saint of Hopeless Causes. We both made it....I'm pretty sure that's how I ended up in AA also. Make that...Very sure.

PRAYER TO ST. JUDE FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY AN ADDICTION

God of life, You made me in Your perfect image, to live in Your love
and to give You glory, honor and praise. Open my heart to you
healing power. Come Lord Jesus, calm the waters of my soul just as
you whispered "Peace" to the stormy sea.

St. Jude, most holy apostle, in my need I cry out to you.
I beg you to intercede for me that I may find strength to overcome my
weakness. Bless all those who struggle with addiction. Touch them,
heal them, reassure them of the Father's constant love. Remain at
my side, St. Jude, to chase away all evil temptations, fears and
doubts. May the quiet assurance of your loving presence illuminate
the darkness in my heart and bring lasting peace.

Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE ADDICTED

God of mercy, we bless You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who ministered to all who come to Him. Give Your strength to N., Your servant, bound by the chains of addiction. Enfold him/her in Your love and restore him/her to the freedom of God's children. Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and freedom. Restore to them the assurance of Your unfailing mercy, and strengthen them in the work of recovery. To those who care for them, grant patient understanding and a love that perseveres. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you anewleafnow... Use what works

My poor grandmother prayed to St.Jude for my mother and myself.. I am so happy the she can look down in peace today.. For her daughter and beloved only grandson are sober today....

Before AA I only prayed when in a "jackpot". Today I can say the power of prayer is real as the air I breath...

Thanks all. Looks like we are all looking for the same thing, strength, guidance, love and support. I guess it doesn't matter how you ask God for help as long as you ask. Keep the faith.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
