Point of methadone?

Point of methadone?
I'd love to hear some opinions from ppl who have been on methadone. This question eats at me every day.
What, in your opinion is the point of methadone? Is treatment actually beneficial or "pointless" (for lack of a better term)?
I was on methadone for 2 years. The 6 month withdrawal experience was THE most agonizing experience of my life.
From what I've seen and heard (this is all opinion, no facts)....
- methadone is just as addictive as heroin or any other narcotic.
- the withdrawal is a whole lot worse (for most, not all. Some get lucky) than heroin
- usually lasts alot longer.
- I've personally heard and seen ALOT more methadone horror stories than heroin.
- I've been a heroin/opiate addict for 15 years. In the 2 yrs I was on meth, I've heard of 10 times more overdoses.
My experience:
- i lost my job due to "nodding" out during the beginning of treatment.
- I've caught things on fire and burned myself along with all my clothes and furniture from nodding with a cigarette in the beginning.
- totaled my car at 6am going TO the clinic to dose bc I.... Nodded out while driving. I could have killed someone.
- I got a DUI for driving under the influence of methadone while it was legally being given to me from a licensed clinic. Lost my license.
- our clinic is only open til 11am mon- fri and 8am on sat & sun. So I needed a sitter every week day morning and overnight on the weekends.
- ppl I've gotten to know well at the clinic overdosed on methadone and benzo's.
- a man there got a 90 yr jail sentence for vehicular homicide from nodding off meth.
- true story: a girl I knew from outside the clinic actually gave birth in the methadone clinics toilet bc she was in labor but had to make sure she dosed that day!
- our clinic, the nurses talk down to you and treat you like a "junkie" not an addict with a legit medical problem.
- our clinic, if you so much as blink too long the give u a supervised urine. And they are so invasive. You get no privacy.
- you lose your sex drive.
- you get constipated.
- you get "pee"-stipated. (can't pee)
- you gain alot of weight.
If you get addicted to it and withdrawal from it something fierce isn't methadone treatment basically replacing one drug with another?
I could go on but I'm pretty sure you get the point.

Did it stop yoi from using ilegal opiats ..sounds like it did
Thats the point.
You shudent drive when on it you have to go12 monthes
Clean of eny drug in this contry whilst on methadone
Before your license is considerd for reterning and you are tested regualy
When driving and for 3 years after ypu quit methadone
